Step 1: Can you make another copy?
Do you have access to the original book, article, etc.? Can you find it again online or in the University Library?
If you can find a digital copy, it’s probably already more accessible than your scan.ÌýAdobe Acrobat ProÌýcanÌýÌýthatÌýisÌýmore accessible than a printed orÌýscannedÌýcopy.
If you have a printed copy, contact theÌýUniversal Design Center (UDC)Ìýor yourÌýAccessible Technology Initiative (ATI) coordinatorÌýabout how to re-scan it to a more accessible format.
Step 2: Librarians
If you can’t find the source, reach out to your University LibraryÌý. They may have ideas about where to find the original, maybe even a more accessible version?Ìý
Step 3: Course Accessibility Report
Cidi Labs also lets you convert a PDF to a Canvas Page in one step. This won’t solve every PDF, and the Page still needs to be checked for accessibility, but this option may be a good alternative for some intractable files.
In the Review Files area, click Review. Next to "Canvas Page," click Request. Optional: Click the "Replace file with a Page" button to replace all instances of the file in your course with the new page.
